Days and time,
level by level

The days of the week in Spanish, lunes to domingo, with the time words around them: today and tomorrow, morning and night, the week, the hour and the minute. The note above the list gives the seven days in order and the one rule that matters, the article that replaces "on".

In Lock&Learn Spanish these words sit in their level packs (Beginner, Elementary, Upper Intermediate, Advanced and more), one per glance on the widget: a word waits on the widget, readable from day one; one tap reveals the meaning and a real sentence. Beginner is free in full; every other pack opens with a free preview.

Type to filter by word or meaning. Flashcards hides the meaning until you tap a row; Shuffle deals the list in a new order.

The Spanish week starts on Monday, and the days are written in lowercase. Five of the names come from the Roman sky (lunes from the Moon, martes from Mars, miércoles from Mercury, jueves from Jupiter, viernes from Venus); sábado comes from the Sabbath and domingo from the Lord's day.

Use the article where English says "on": el lunes is "on Monday", los lunes "on Mondays". The days ending in -s stay the same in the plural (el martes, los martes); sábado and domingo add an s (los sábados).
