Pick your level,

Three word lists that follow the TOPIK exams the way the National Institute of Korean Language bands its learner vocabulary: the beginner list for TOPIK I (levels 1 and 2), then the intermediate and advanced bands of TOPIK II. Every entry shows the hangul, its Revised Romanization and an English meaning. Pick your level, read the list, then let the widget carry it onto your Lock Screen.

The same lists,
on your Lock Screen

Lock&Learn Korean turns each of these lists into a pack for the iPhone Lock Screen widget: a word waits in hangul with its romanization; one tap reveals the meaning and a real sentence. Read the list here when you want the whole picture; let the widget carry it one word at a time.

Asked and
answered

Which TOPIK levels do these lists cover?

TOPIK I (levels 1 and 2) as one beginner list, and TOPIK II as an intermediate list (levels 3 and 4) and an advanced list (levels 5 and 6), the way the National Institute of Korean Language bands its learner vocabulary. In the app each band is split by frequency into two packs; Beginner 1 is free.

Where do the word lists come from?

Word lists: the National Institute of Korean Language (NIKL) learner vocabulary and the 2015 TOPIK vocabulary list, as compiled in combined_korean_vocabulary_list. English senses adapted from Kengdic by Joe Speigle (MPL 2.0). Revised Romanization is generated; example sentences are original Lock&Learn content.

Is Lock&Learn Korean free?

Yes. The app is free on iOS: Beginner 1 is free in full, and every other pack opens with a free preview. Lock&Learn+ is an optional upgrade that opens every pack at once, offered as a yearly plan (with a 3-day free trial) or a monthly plan.
