Which words count as basic?

The ones a beginner meets first: every word of Lock&Learn Arabic that belongs to an everyday topic (numbers, days and months, colors, family, food, the body, the weather, clothes, the home, school and work, travel, feelings, question words and greetings), plus the most useful verbs and adjectives. Most of them sit at A1 and A2, and the level chip on every row says which.

Where do the topics come from?

The words come from the CEFR-levelled Lock&Learn Arabic lists, the same words Lock&Learn Arabic teaches level by level; the topic on each word is Lock&Learn's own tagging, one topic per word, kept deliberately strict so that a topic page holds only what a learner would look for under that heading.

How do I learn basic Arabic words on my iPhone Lock Screen?

Install Lock&Learn Arabic, then touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, tap the widget area and choose Lock&Learn Arabic. The Beginner pack, free in the app, holds most of the words on these pages. A fully vocalized word waits with its romanization; one tap reveals the meaning and a real sentence.

Is Lock&Learn Arabic free?

Yes. The app is free on iOS: Beginner is free in full, and every other pack opens with a free preview. Lock&Learn+ is an optional upgrade that opens every pack at once, offered as a yearly plan (with a 3-day free trial) or a monthly plan.
